Terps Complete Armbar at the Armory, Defeat Lock Haven

ALBANY, NY – The Terps picked up a win against Lock Haven as part of the Journeymen Armbar at the Armory quad meet.
Braxton Brown (No.17 at 133) and Ethen Miller (No. 6 at 157) both finished the day 3-0. Brown won two gritty decisions to start the day before making a statement with a 9-0 major decision over No. 14 Anthony Noto, a two-time All-American for Lock Haven. Miller cruised to major decision victories in all three of his matches.
Seth Nevills (No. 13 at 285) also finished the day undefeated, going 2-0. While Kal Miller (No. 28 at 149) and Jaxon Smith (No. 10 at 184) won two bouts apiece, with Miller picking up two ranked wins on the day.
After dropping the first dual of the day to Binghamton, the Terps split bouts with Columbia, but a fall at 197 proved to be the difference in scoring with Columbia winning 19-18.
The Terps closed the day with their best performance yet, winning seven of 10 bouts against a talented Lock Haven squad to claim a 27-12 win. Brown got the momentum started for the Terps with his defeat of Noto. Kal Miller also added to the match highlights, getting a takedown at the buzzer to defeat the No. 30 wrestler at 149. True freshman Alex Uryniak (165) picked up his first career dual win with a 6-3 decision and fellow true freshman Branson John followed suit right after, pinning No. 29 Avery Bassett for his first career ranked victory.
Next up, the Terps will kick off Big Ten competition with a trip to the state of Michigan. Maryland will face No. 9 Michigan in Ann Arbor on Friday, Jan. 10 at 6 pm on BTN. The Terps will then wrestle Michigan State on Sunday, Jan. 12 at 1 pm on B1G+.
