BLACKSBURG, VA – The Terps finish the ITA Regionals in Blacksburg, Virginia, with a second-place finish in the doubles main draw. Ema Kovacevic and Emma Ghirardato went 5-1 as a tandem and ultimately fell in the final, 6-3, 6-3. By advancing to the final, Ghirardato and Kovacevic automatically qualify for the ITA Sectionals at UNC, November 6-9. The ITA Sectionals are the last NCAA qualifying event.

In singles, eight members of the Terps qualified for the main draw, with Oliwia Orlinska advancing the furthest, reaching the quarterfinals, and Emma Ghirardato, Lucia Donnelly, and Magdalena Baniak reaching the round of 16.  By reaching the quarterfinals, Oliwia Orlinska also receives entry into the ITA Sectionals tournament.  

In total, the Terps had a strong week, collectively going 18-8 in singles matches and 7-4 in doubles.

"This was a great tournament collectively for the team," says Head Coach Katie Doughtery. "We had eight players in the main draw and will have at least a singles player and a doubles team at Sectionals. Our freshmen both stepped up big time to qualify into the main draw and make it to the Rd of 16. Overall, very happy with how we competed this weekend and looking forward to more opportunities early next month."
