PHILADELPHIA, PA – This weekend, the University of Maryland Women's Tennis Team was represented by Katherine Hung, Aida Eissa, Diya Challa, Tamari Gagoshidze, and newcomers Lucia Donnelly and Magdalena Baniak at the Cissie Leary Invitational, hosted by the University of Pennsylvania.

This was Freshman Lucia Donnelly and Magdalena Baniak's first tournament representing the Terps, and they excelled right from the jump. Both went 3-0 in their singles matchups and 2-1 in doubles play.

Similarly, Tamari Gagoshidze and Diya Challa had standout performances, also going 3-0 in singles play and 2-1 in doubles.

In addition, five out of the six Terps went undefeated in singles in this tournament. It was a great weekend for the Terps, going 16-2 in singles and 6-3 in doubles.

"This was a great weekend of competing for the program. Our freshman did a great job not only picking up their first college wins but both going 3-0 in singles. We're in a good spot heading into regionals and looking forward to building off this tournament and All-Americans."

Next up in October, the Terps will head to the ITA Regionals, held in Blacksburg, Virginia. The Qualifying draw begins Thursday, October 16th, the Main Draw on October 17th, and runs through Tuesday, October 21st.
