  • Iowa is coming off a 3-1 loss against the number one team in the country, Northwestern. The Hawkeyes struck first when Dionne van Aalsum netted her 17th goal of the season in the 10th minute in the first quarter.
  • Northwestern responded shortly after halftime, tying the game 1-1 on a rebounded penalty corner goal by leading scorer Ilse Tromp. The Wildcats added two more goals in the fourth quarter to secure the 3-1 victory.
  • Two-time Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week Dionne Van Aalsum leads the Hawkeyes with 36 points, off 17 goals and two assists.
  • Freshman Felicia Zonnenberg is already making a name for herself. She leads the team with 10 assists, while also scoring three goals. She has picked up one Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor this season.
  • Zonnenberg is second in the conference for assists per game (1.11), ranking her fourth in the nation. Van Aalsum leads the Big Ten and the country in points per game (4.00) and goals per game (1.89).

  • At Ohio State, the two squads combined for three corners and three shots each, but neither Buckeye nor Terrapin could break the ice in the first half until OSU's Raleigh Kerst scored midway through the third quarter.
  • Annemijn Klijnhout scored her first goal of the season in the 50th minute to tie the match 1-1. Callie Rogers picked up her second assist of the season on Klijnhouts goal.
  • Ohio State's Makenna Webster scored in overtime to give the Terps their first conference loss of the season.
  • Despite its 25 total shots, defense was king for No. 11 Maryland on Sunday as the Terps picked up their first road conference win over Michigan State.
  • Jordyn Hollamon broke through in the 11th minute to score her fifth goal of the year after a beautiful feed from Maci Bradford. She picked up her team leading sixth assist of the season.
  • Alyssa Klebasko had an easy day in the net for the Terps, facing only six shots in her 15th career shutout.
  • Ella Gaitan provided Maryland with an insurance goal in the 55th minute, netting her fifth goal of the season.
  • Sophomore AJ Eyre picked up her first career assist against Michigan State on Gaitans tip in goal

DEFENSE STANDS TALL
  • On Sunday, Maryland's defense, led by Ericka Morris-Adams, Josie Hollamon, and Fleur Knopert limited Michigan State to zero shots in the first quarter and just one shot in the second and third.
  • Junior goalkeeper Alyssa Klebasko finished the game with three saves, saving all three shots on goal
  • She picked up her 15th career shutout in the 2-0 win over Michigan State
  • This season, Klebasko is third in the conference and 10th in the nation for goals against average (1.01) and has a 79% save percentage.
  • Maryland is also second in the conference in shutouts per game (0.36) with four so far this season.
  • Alyssa Klebasko currently is tied for third-all time in Maryland field hockey history for goals against average (1.01)

Big Ten awards
  • Freshman Jordyn Hollamon has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week twice this season (9/2, 9/22)
  • Sept. 2 - Hollamon helped Maryland to a 2-0 record in the Conference Cup with wins over Stanford and Villanova. She assisted on Maryland's first goal of the season and scored her first two career goals against Villanova.
  • Sept. 22 - In just 37 minutes of action, Hollamon contributed a goal off a penalty corner and threaded a long pass on Feliz Kuhne's goal that made the ESPN SportsCenter Top 10. She helped Maryland improve to 5-0 at home.
  • Junior goalkeeper Alyssa Klebasko was named Big Ten Co-Defensive Player of the Week for September 15
  • Klebasko posted her 13th career shutout as No. 10 Maryland defeated No. 13 Saint Joseph's, 1-0 in College Park. She tied her career-high of six saves in the 3-1 win over Penn and Allowed one goal in 120 minutes of action on the weekend (Sept. 14), helping Maryland improve its all-time record at the Terrapin Invitational to 22-2

  • On Sunday October 19, No. 12 Maryland is set to play No. 1 Northwestern in College Park.
