COLLEGE PARK, MD – Wrestling head coach Alex Clemsen announced the 2025–26 schedule on Wednesday afternoon. The schedule features eight home events, a strong slate of Big Ten duals, and competitive non-conference matchups.
"This year's schedule is a great blend of nonconference opponents, great conference wrestling as always, and a few marquee events, with the Southern Scuffle back in the mix," Clemsen said. "Lots of great opportunities for our team to compete at a high level and for our fans to see some of the best wrestling in the nation. Hope everyone shows up and packs the Pav all year long. Go Terps!"
The season begins on Wednesday, October 23, with the annual Red/Black Intrasquad meet in College Park. The Terps then hit the road for three consecutive open tournaments to start November: the Southeast Open in Roanoke, VA, on November 2, the Journeyman Collegiate Classic in Bethlehem, PA, on November 9, and the Throwdown on the Yorktown in Charleston, SC, on November 15.
Maryland continues non-conference action with a pair of regional duals in late November and early December. The Terps will face Morgan State in Baltimore on November 21 before taking on American University in Washington, D.C., on December 5. The team then travels to Fairfax, VA, to compete in the GMU Open on December 7 and returns home to host Pittsburgh on December 13 in its final appearance of the calendar year.
The Terps will begin the 2026 portion of the schedule at the Southern Scuffle in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on January 3-4, one of the nation's top midseason tournaments. The Big Ten season opens shortly after, with a road trip to face Northwestern in Evanston on January 9 and Wisconsin in Madison on January 11.
Maryland hosts Purdue on January 16 and then heads to Indiana for a January 18 dual in Bloomington. The Terps return home for a matchup with Penn State on January 25 before closing out the month with a road dual at Rutgers on January 30.
February includes three more home duals as Maryland welcomes Minnesota on February 8, Ohio State on February 15, and Drexel on February 20 to conclude the regular season.
In 2024–25, the Terps delivered their best season in the nation's most competitive conference. Maryland recorded its highest point total and most placers ever at the Big Ten Championships, along with its best team finish. At the NCAA Championships, the Terps posted their highest point total and best finish since 2014. Jaxon Smith became the program's first All-American since 2019 with a sixth-place finish at 184 lbs. The Terps also qualified six wrestlers for the NCAA Championships — their most since 2012 — and recorded their most Big Ten dual wins in program history.
Maryland returns a strong core for the 2025–26 season, including four NCAA qualifiers: Braxton Brown, Kal Miller, Branson John, and Smith.
