COLLEGE PARK, MD -- Each week during the 2025-26 season, a Maryland student-athlete who has shown excellence on and off the playing field will be selected as the Solomon Eye Physicians & Surgeons Terp of the Week.
This week's Terp of the Week is junior Rose Coats of the women's cross country team - her fourth time earning the honor this season and the seventh time overall in her career.Â
Coats had a 7th place individual finish at last week's NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional hosted by Lehigh University, leading the Terps as the team placed tenth out of 29 schools. With her performance, she qualified for her second NCAA Championships.
Rose Coats is the first individual to qualify for back-to-back NCAA Championships, and this the second time that a Terp has qualified for the event since Alexandra Lucki in 2017 and Emily Bracher in 2018.
Coats crossed the line first for the Terps in 7th out of 210 runners. She completed the 6k course with another sub-20 time of 19:46.1, improving her time from last year's Mid-Atlantic Regional by nearly seven seconds.
Coats will represent the Terps at this Saturday's NCAA Championships on November 22 in Columbia, MO.
