ANNAPOLIS, MD — The Terps won six events as the Maryland women's track and field team opened its indoor season Saturday at the Navy Invitational at Wesley A. Brown Field House.
Maya Valmon ran 23.92 seconds in the 200 meters to secure first place and move to second on Maryland's all-time indoor list.
Nyla Cherry also placed first in the women's long jump with a mark of 5.73 meters.
Kanai Bey, Taylor Riley , Maya Mosley, and Maya Valmon set a facility record in the 4x400 recording a time of 3:42.57.
Ella O'Neall recorded a throw of 14.09 meters, winning her event.
Taylor Riley won the women's 500 meters in 1:15.29 in her first indoor race as a Terrapin.
Armanie Coleman ran 7.45 seconds in the 60 meters, finishing 0.1 seconds off the venue record and 0.02 off her Maryland record. She also took second place in the 200 meters (23.96 seconds).
Other standout performers included Eva Rogers, who placed second in the women's mile with a time of 4:59.50; Simone Cooper, who finished second in the women's shot put with a throw of 13.51 meters; and Morgan Graham, who placed third in the women's weight throw at 17.15 meters.
Other Navy Highlights
The Terrapins return to action in the new year when they travel to University Park to compete in the Penn State Nittany Lion Challenge on Jan. 17.
