COLLEGE PARK, MD -- Maryland finishes up its four-game home stand to open the 2025 season when it hosts Denver (3-2) on Saturday, March 1, at noon at the Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex.

Where We've Been
  • The Terrapins are 2-1 on the young season. After dropping its season opener to then-No. 6 Syracuse (15-9, Feb. 15), Maryland responded with back-to-back wins over Georgetown (9-7, Feb. 18) and Saint Joseph's (18-7, Feb. 22).
  • Grad student Chrissy Thomas is the catalyst for the Terrapin offense and leads the team with 10 points on one goal and a team-best nine assists. Junior Kori Edmondson is the team leader with eight goals, while sophomore Maisy Clevenger is just one back with seven goals. Defensively, the Terps are holding opponents to 7.33 goals per game, which ranks 17th nationally.
Series history vs. Denver
  • This will be Maryland and Denver's seventh meeting all-time, with the Terps holding a 5-1 advantage. The Terps and Pioneers first met in 2004 in College Park, and Denver came east again in 2005. After that, the series went on a 12-year hiatus but picked up again in 2018.
  • Maryland dominated the first four meetings (2004-05 & 2018-19) with an average margin of victory of 11.8 goals. Denver picked up its first win over the Terps, 8-7, in 2023 at SECU Stadium, but the Terps rebounded to take the first game of the series in Denver, 10-8, in 2024.
  • Kori Edmondson is the lone current Terp to register a goal in each of the last two games vs. the Pioneers. In 2023, she led Maryland with three goals and added another score in 2024. Chrissy Thomas had two assists in the 2024 victory with Maisy Clevenger also picking up an assist in the win.
Scouting The Pioneers
  • Denver is 3-2 so far in 2025, with three straight wins. After scoring a combined 13 goals in its first two games (both losses), the Pioneers found their offensive firepower. In wins over Vanderbilt, Arizona State, and San Diego State, Denver averaged 19.3 goals per game and had a .453 shooting percentage.
  • Offensively, Raegan Wilson triggers the offense and leads Denver with 21 points on seven goals and a team-leading 14 assists. Lauren Black leads the Pioneers with 15 goals (15g, 4a), while Olivia Ripple is one behind with 14 goals.
  • Alex Dorr (29 draw controls) and Carolina Colimore (22 draw controls) are a formidable 1-2 punch in the circle. Emelia Bohi is a four-year starter in goal and boasts a career 8.07 goals-against average, including an NCAA-leading 6.43 GAA in 2023.
