COLLEGE PARK, MD -- No. 4 Maryland (1-0) hits the road for the first time this season to face Loyola (0-1) in Baltimore at 1 pm on Feb. 8.
This year marks the 100th season of Maryland men's lacrosse. The program has produced 525 All-Americans, 29 Final Fours, and four NCAA National Championships. The Terps have remarkably also finished .500 or better in every season.
100th Season of maryland men's lacrosse
- The Terps boast an all-time record of 893-290-4 (.754), dating back to the first varsity team in 1924 (a team was not fielded in 1944 and 1945 due to World War II). Maryland has finished with a .500 or better record in all previous 99 seasons. The program reached the 800-win milestone with a 12-6 victory on April 12, 2017, at Albany.
- Maryland finished the decade of the 2010s 134-42 for a .761 winning percentage, making it the winningest decade in Terrapin lacrosse history. Nine of those seasons came under the direction of head coach John Tillman, who has posted a 122-38 record and a .763 winning percentage at the helm for Maryland.
- During the decade of the 2000s, Maryland went 111-49 for a .694 win percentage. In the decade of the 1990s, Maryland posted a 95-47 record. The .669 winning percentage matched Maryland's win percentage of the 1980s when the Terps went 83-41 and also compiled a .669 win percentage.
Maryland wins the 2022 National Championship, capping a perfect 18-0 season.
Series history
- Maryland has won 23 of 26 meetings against the Greyhounds.
- Loyola won the last matchup in Baltimore with the Terps winning the last meeting overall. Last season, Maryland held the Greyhounds scoreless for spans of 19:30 and 34:27 en route to an 11-4 win. Logan McNaney made 12 saves in the contest.

Where we've been...
- The Terrapins are coming off their NCAA-best 21st consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and 29th Final Four, tied with Johns Hopkins for the most by any program. The Terps returned to the NCAA Championship game for the eighth time in 13 tournaments and 17th time in program history. Maryland (11-6) won double-digit games for the 21st year in a row, the longest active streak in NCAA Division I men's lacrosse.
- Maryland got off to a strong start in 2025 as the Terps topped No. 18 Richmond 12-7 in their season opener. The Terps shut out the Spiders in the first half, 7-0, marking the first, first-half shutout for the team since 2015. Logan McNaney made 14 saves in cage while Binghamton transfer Matthew Keegan led the way with five points (3g-2a).
The Maryland defense excelled against the Spiders, holding them without a goal for the first 31:03 of the game.
About the terps
- The Terps welcome back a trio of attackman/midfield who all started the majority of the games in 2024. Senior Eric Spanos has played 33 career games with 61 points (43g-18a), junior Braden Erksa has 89 points over 33 games (50g-39a) and fifth-year Daniel Kelly has 71 points (54g-17a) over 51 games.
- Defensively, the Terps return a trio of key cogs in last year's 2024 run in close defenseman Jackson Canfield, Colin Burlace and Will Schaller. That group has combined for 129 games played. Additionally, the Terps return both Jack McDonald and AJ Larkin at LSM as well as George Stamos, Eric Kolar and Alex Wicks at SSDM.
- In goal, Logan McNaney is back for his sixth season. The 2022 NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player has 585 career saves, the fourth most in program history. He will be wearing the program's historic No. 1 jersey this season, the first goalie to wear the number since Melvin Stephens (1989-91).
- The Terps welcome six transfers in 2025. The group of Noah Armitage (Stony Brook), Jack Dowd (Salisbury), Bryce Ford (Fairfield), Zack Goorno (Bowdoin), Matt Keegan (Binghamton) and Luca Ward (Holy Cross) have 296 games combined.
