Terp Trio Highlight Final Day Of Big Ten Indoor Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – A trio of Terps highlighted the final day of competition at the Big Ten Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Sam Payne, Tolu Akinduro, and Katie Turk all turned in all-time top-10 performances to lead Maryland.
Payne became the second Terp to reach the scoring podium after finishing fifth in the 600-meter finals. She clocked a new PR of 1:30.32 which stands as the No. 2 time in program history.
Both Akinduro and Turk turned in performances that ranked third all-time in their respective events. Akinduro placed 11th in the triple jump as she tied her PR on the first attempt with a mark of 12.77 meters. Turk ran 9-minutes, 27.57 seconds in the 3,000 meters which was also a new PR in the event.
Also competing in the 3,000 meters was Hannah Mack who had a PR of 9:58.63 (43rd).
Jennessa Wolfe placed 16th in the high jump (1.72 meters), while the Maryland 4x400 meter relay team of Ka'Nai Bey, Payne, Lydia Robling, and Maya Valmon placed 13th.
Overall, the Terps finished 17th overall after receiving points from Payne (5) and Chioma Njoku (1). Oregon won the Big Ten team title with 131 total points.
