COLLEGE PARK, MD – No. 9 Maryland women's lacrosse won its third straight game, defeating Denver, 14-10, at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex on Saturday. The Terps improved to 3-1 this season.
Captain Chrissy Thomas' goal at the 5:23 mark in the fourth quarter quashed Denver's (3-3) hopes of a late-game comeback. After Maryland scored five goals in the first quarter, Denver went up 6-5 at halftime. Then Jodryn Lipkin's equalizer in the third quarter ignited an explosive, seven-goal period. The Terps outscored the Pioneers 8-4 in the second half, keying Maryland's victory.
Seven Terps scored in the game and five Terps tallied double-digit points.
Kori Edmondson had her 20th career hat trick, with four goals and two assists for a total of six points in the contest. It was the junior midfielder's first career game with multiple assists.
Chrissy Thomas (two goals and two assists), Kayla Gilmore (two goals and one assist), Lipkin (two goals), Shelby Sullivan (two goals) each had double-digit points. Devin Livingston and Kate Sites also scored, and Maisy Clevengar notched an assist.
JJ Suriano made five saves in her fourth career start, as Maryland's defense forced 11 turnovers. Clevenger, Livingston, Edmondson, Thomas, Lipkin and Sullivan all recorded turnovers.
The Terps won 15 of 27 draw controls as a team.

- The Terps recorded five goals on eight shots in a productive first quarter. Jordyn Lipkin scored in the first 40 seconds, followed by scores from Shelby Sullivan, Devin Livingston, Kayla Gilmore and Chrissy Thomas. Denver had two goals on only three shot attempts in the first.
- Denver capitalized on a number of free-position shots, scoring four times in the second quarter, despite three JJ Suriano saves. The Pioneers held a narrow 6-5 lead at the half.
- Three consecutive scores from Lipkin, Maisy Clevengar and Kate Sites lifted the Terps back above the Pioneers to start the third quarter. Denver scored once in the second, but four unanswered additional goals from Kori Edmondson, Sites and Sullivan prevented the Pioneers from countering any more in the third.
- Denver came within two of the Terps in the fourth quarter after scoring three-straight. But goals from Thomas and Edmondson provided the necessary advantage for Maryland to claim their third win of the season.

- Kori Edmondson posted her third hat trick of the season and Maryland's fifth hat trick overall. It was the 20th of her career.
- Shelby Sullivan and Maisy Clevenger have recorded the other hat tricks for the Terps this season.

- Chrissy Thomas (two goals and two assists) had the 28th multi-point game of her career. It was her 18th game with multiple assists. It was also her 13th with multiple goals.

- Shelby Sullivan (two goals) recorded her third career multi-point game. It was her second with multiple goals.
- Kayla Gilmore (two goals and one assist) recorded her third career multi-point game with multiple goals.
- Jordyn Lipkin (two goals) recorded the 15th multi-point game of her career. It was her 14th with multiple goals.
Home Cooking
- Maryland is 175-12 at home under head coach Cathy Reese. It has eight undefeated home campaigns in the last 11 seasons (2013-19 and 2021).

Dominating The Series
- This was Maryland and Denver's seventh meeting all-time, with the Terps holding a 6-1 advantage. The Terps and Pioneers first met in 2004 in College Park, and Denver came east again in 2005. After that, the series went on a 12-year hiatus but picked up again in 2018.
- Maryland dominated the first four meetings (2004-05 and 2018-19) with an average margin of victory of 11.8 goals. Denver picked up its first win over the Terps, 8-7, in 2023 at SECU Stadium, but the Terps rebounded to take the first game of the series in Denver, 10-8, in 2024.
- Kori Edmondson is the lone current Terp to register a goal in each of the last two games vs. the Pioneers. In 2023, she led Maryland with three goals and added another score in 2024. Chrissy Thomas had two assists in the 2024 victory, with Maisy Clevenger also picking up an assist in the win.
