Terps Fall To USF In Game Two, 4-3

TAMPA, FL – Maryland baseball lost a tight contest in game two of its series against USF, 4-3, at the USF Baseball Stadium on Saturday. The Terps are 10-9 overall heading into the rubber match tomorrow at 1 p.m.

USF (8-8) got off to a 2-0 lead through the first three innings with two solo home runs. Maryland would briefly tie the game in the fourth, but a two-run single in the bottom of the fifth was the difference. One final run by the Terps in the eighth wasn't enough.

Hollis Porter drove in Maryland's first run with an RBI double. Parker Corbin then recorded a pinch-hit RBI sacrifice fly in the same inning. The two runs briefly tied the game. Aden Hill drove in the last run for Maryland with an RBI groundout.

Jacob Orr (2-for-4) and Chris Hacopian (2-for-4) each recorded multiple hits. They also each came around to score once. Orr has multiple hits in five of his last seven games.

Logan Hastings pitched 4.1 innings, surrendering four runs on four hits. Cristofer Cespedes took the mound in relief, throwing a career-high 3.2 innings pitched with only one hit allowed and a pair of strikeouts. He didn't allow a single run in his outing.
