Terps Lose Series Finale To Washington, 2-0

SEATTLE – Maryland baseball lost its series finale against Washington, 2-0, at Husky Ballpark on Sunday afternoon. The Terps are 12-12 overall and 2-4 in Big Ten, heading into their midweek matchup against George Mason on Tuesday. 

Washington (11-14, 4-2 Big Ten) scored its two runs in the third and fifth innings. Each run was scored on a groundout. Despite the loss, Maryland outhit Washington 6-3. The Terps were just unable to bring any of their base runners home, as they left eight runners on base. 

The Terps threatened in the top of the ninth as Jacob Orr and Aden Hill both hit singles. Orr advanced to third base, but Maryland was unable to plate the game-tying or go-ahead runs.  

In the first weekend start of his career, Jake Yeager pitched 4.2 innings and surrendered two runs. He gave up just three hits and struck out two batters. Cristofer Cespedes replaced Yeager, pitching the remaining 3.1 innings and striking out a season-high four batters. He allowed no hits, zero runs and a walk. 
  Maryland's other hits were from Brayden Martin and Chris Hacoopian. Orr and Hill went 2-for-4.
