COLLEGE PARK, MD - Terps hit the road for a Tuesday night matchup against the Virginia Cavaliers before heading to Indiana for another Big Ten conference series.

- Maryland enters the weekend with a 15-18 overall record and a 3-7 mark in Big Ten play. The Terps opened conference action with a series win over Rutgers, went 1-3 in Oklahoma City, and most recently dropped three games to nationally ranked UCLA.
- Against the Bruins, Maryland fell in Friday's opener, 9-0 (5 innings), though sophomore Bailey Murphy went 2-for-2 at the plate. In Saturday's contest, the Terps held the No. 7 Bruins scoreless through five innings before UCLA broke through with a three-run homer. Maryland answered in the bottom half of the inning after Madison Runyan doubled and Mazie MacFarlane drove her in with a single to cut the deficit to two. UCLA responded with another three-run shot and secured the 6-1 win. In Sunday's finale, the Terps fell 10-1 in five innings.
- Virginia, ranked in the top 25 for much of the season, comes into the matchup with a 25-10 overall record and a 7-5 mark in ACC play. The Cavaliers are coming off a weekend series at Notre Dame, dropping the first two games (4-3, 7-2) before earning a 6-4 extra-inning win in the finale.
- UVA also faced a common Big Ten opponent in UCLA earlier this season, narrowly defeating the Bruins 7-6 on February 16.
- The Cavaliers' offense is led by sophomore Bella Cabral (.408 AVG, 6 HR, 26 RBI), junior Jade Hylton (.358 AVG, 8 HR, 28 RBI), and sophomore Macee Eaton (.349 AVG, 9 HR, 44 RBI).
- In the circle, junior Eden Bigham (2.74 ERA) and senior Savannah Henley (3.03 ERA) lead the way, each collecting eight wins this season. Bigham has pitched three complete games, including one shutout.
- Maryland and Virginia share a long history as former conference foes, with their first meeting dating back to 1995. Virginia leads the all-time series 30-26. Their most recent matchup came last season in College Park, where the Terps earned a 2-1 victory.

- 2024 All-Big Ten Second Team selections Mazie MacFarlane and Sydney Lewis have continued their strong play into the new season.
- MacFarlane ranks second on the team with a .350 batting average, leading Maryland in hits (36) and doubles (12). She delivered a standout performance in the series win over Rutgers, going 4-for-7 in the two victories, smashing two home runs and driving in five RBIs while maintaining a perfect fielding percentage (4 putouts).
- Lewis has already hit seven home runs this season, surpassing last year's total. In the rubber match win against Rutgers, she crushed two home runs, drove in four runs, and went 2-for-4 at the plate.

A Look Into the Terps'Pitching Staff
- Junior Bri Godfrey and freshman Aubrey Wurst currently lead Maryland's pitching staff, each tallying five wins on the season. Godfrey holds a 4.32 ERA and is tied for the team lead with 36 strikeouts. She has pitched four complete games, including two shutouts. Wurst also has 36 strikeouts and carries a 4.56 ERA.
- Sophomore Julia Shearer, who splits time between the circle and right field, has thrown four complete games and recorded two shutouts. She holds a 6.10 ERA with 26 strikeouts on the season.
- Junior Keira Bucher holds the team's lowest ERA at 3.95 and has made 11 appearances, primarily in relief. She's totaled 23 strikeouts while issuing just 13 walks.
