No. 1 Terps Improve To 6-0, Racing Past Delaware, 14-3

COLLEGE PARK, MD – No. 1 Maryland men's lacrosse improved to 6-0, defeating No. Delaware, 14-3, at SECU Stadium on Saturday. The Terps are undefeated through six games for the first time since 2022, when they went 18-0 and won the national championship. The last time the Terps held an opponent to three or fewer goals was on March 14, 2015, when they defeated Villanova 11-2.

The Terps never trailed in the contest as Matthew Keegan got them on the board early in the first quarter. The Blue Hens (3-2) quickly responded with a goal to tie the game, but Maryland then scored seven unanswered goals and held Delaware scoreless for 24:57, spanning through the first and second quarters. The scoring run put Delaware in a hole that it was unable to overcome. Maryland even held Delaware scoreless for another 20+ minutes — 20:33 from 1:46 in the second to 11:13 in the fourth. This was the fifth time this season Maryland's defense held an opponent to single-digit goals.

Logan McNaney made 16 saves in the game before Brian Ruppel took over late in the fourth. It was McNaney's sixth straight game to begin the season with double-digit saves. He moved to second on Maryland's all-time saves list with 665 for his career. He passed Brian Dougherty (658 from 1993-96) and is now chasing Kevin O'Leary's program record of 705 saves from 1981-84.

The Terps' defense caused eight turnovers. AJ Larkin was a significant contributor to Maryland's suffocating defense. He matched his career-high for ground balls and caused turnovers in the first half, finishing with four and two, respectively.

Keegan posted his second hat trick of the season and the 17th of his career. The Binghamton transfer notched his hat trick in the first half, later finishing the game with three goals and and assists. Braden Erksa also posted a hat trick, scoring three goals and notching an assist. It was his eighth as a Terp and first of the season.

Zach Whittier set career highs with five points and three assists. The senior also netted two goals, as he was one of five Terps to score multiple times. Elijah Stobaugh (two goals and one assist) posted his first career multi-point and multi-goal game.

Bryce Ford (two goals) also scored multiple goals. Eric Spanos recorded a career high in assists (four). Eliot Dukick and Jack Schultz also scored goals in the game.

This was the first meeting between the Terps and the Blue Hens since 2002.
