COLLEGE PARK, MD – Maryland softball recorded a season-high runs and hits (19) in its 19-0 run-rule win over Maryland Eastern Shore at
Maryland Softball Stadium on Tuesday evening. Maryland improved to 16-25 on the season.
The last time the Terps scored 19 or more runs was on April 5, 2015, when it defeated Iowa 21-8. This was also Maryland's largest shutout victory since beating Iowa 19-0 on March 22, 2015.
Freshman pitcher Aubrey Wurst made her eighth start in the circle this season for the Terps. She struck out 11 batters setting a new career-high, including the first five batters she faced. She improved to 6-2, earning her third complete-game shutout of the season. She also held a no-hitter through the first four innings before surrendering a hit in the fifth.
Sam Bean kicked off Maryland's scoring, belting a two-run homer off the center field scoreboard in the second inning, giving the Terps a 2-0 lead. It was Bean's sixth homer of the season, matching her single-season career-best from a season ago at Lamar.
