COLLEGE PARK, MD -- Maryland heads back on the road in conference play, as they head to Bloomington to face Indiana. This marks the second consecutive season both teams have met, with Indiana taking two of three in the match-up in College Park.
The Terrapins are coming off a midweek win over Mount St. Mary's on the road by a score of 10-2. Five Terps hit home runs in the game, while Brayden Ryan picked up his second win in as many weeks. Jacob Orr came up a triple short of the cycle, while Eddie Hacopian hit a three-run shot late in the game. Ryan threw a career-high seven innings on the mound in the start, holding the Mountaineers to five hits and striking out four.
Year Two For Calarco
- Alex Calarco is having a career year in year two in College Park. Calarco continues to be one of the top hitters in the nation. Calarco ranks among some of the top hitters in multiple categories as the team reaches the midpoint of the season.
- Calarco's 13 home runs this season are the 27th-most in the nation and are tied for the fifth-most in the Big Ten. Calarco was the first player to reach double-digit home runs nationally. Calarco has 49 RBI on the year, which are tied for the 19th-most in the country.
- Calarco was named as one of 45 players to the Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List. The Golden Spikes Award is given annually to the best amateur baseball player in the country. Calarco is the first Maryland player to feature on the midseason watch list since Matt Shaw in 2023.
Alex Calarco continues to lead the Terrapins' offense in multiple categories and be one of the best hitters in the country. Calarco ranks in the top-25 in both home runs and RBI this season, while hitting for a .284 batting average.
McCoy's Brilliance On The Mound
- Redshirt sophomore Kyle McCoy has returned to the Terrapins' rotation in 2025 after missing the 2024 season due to injury. In his return, McCoy turned in an impressive performance so far and leads the Terps pitching staff in multiple categories. Through eight starts, McCoy has a 3-2 record with a 3.06 ERA and 51 strikeouts.
- McCoy tied his longest outing of his career against USF, going eight innings. The start for McCoy was his third consecutive with seven or more strikeouts. McCoy only allowed one earned run in the outing, with four outings this season where the lefty has allowed zero or one earned run.
- McCoy has been very effective in his first season back from injury. McCoy has had five or more strikeouts in six of his last seven outings, holding a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 3.6:1. McCoy is tied for the third-most innings in the conference this season and has allowed just 14 walks across his 53 innings pitched this season.

Walk it Out
- The Terps' offense continues to be patient at the plate, leading the conference in walks with 230 and ranking 10th in the country. The Terps have three players who rank in the top 25 in the conference in walks this season.
- Brayden Martin leads the bunch with 38 walks, the most in the Big Ten and ranking as the 12th-most nationally. Next is the pair of Chris Hacopian and Alex Calarco who both have 29 walks this season, tied for the 11th-most in the conference.

Scouting The Hoosiers
- Indiana enters the weekend after falling in a midweek contest at home against Indiana State 7-5. Devin Taylor led the way offensively, hitting the 47th home run of his career to tie the program record. The Hoosiers mounted a comeback late, with a home run from Tyler Cerny in the ninth. The Hoosiers scored another in the inning on an RBI double, but the comeback bid fell just short in the loss.
- Offensively, Korbyn Dickerson leads the Hoosiers in most major categories. Dickerson comes into the weekend leading the team in hits (57), home runs (15), and RBI (58). Dickerson leads the Big Ten in RBI so far this year and is tied for the most in the country, while also ranking second in the conference in home runs. Devin Taylor leads the team in batting average, hitting .365 on the season. His .365 average ranks as the seventh-best in the Big Ten. As a team Indiana leads the conference and ranks in the top-20 nationally in hits with 324 on the year.
- On the pitching side, Cole Gilley leads the Hoosier rotation. Gilley comes into the weekend with a 7-1 record, pitching to a 3.02 ERA with 55 strikeouts in 41.2 innings. Gilley's seven wins on the year are tied for the most in the Big Ten, and are tied for the third-most nationally. Drew Buhr leads the team in ERA, coming into the weekend with a 2.29 ERA across 19.2 innings on the mound.
Stanley Bobb Baseball Player Development Center
- On Wednesday, Jan. 14, Maryland unveiled the new Stanley Bobb Baseball Performance Center. This will serve as the new indoor training facility for the Maryland Baseball program.
- This new state-of-the-art facility will allow baseball student-athletes the opportunity to train year round in a controlled environment, allowing them to continue to hone their skills regardless of the conditions.
- The 8,500 square foot facility will have defined spaces for both pitchers and hitters in a climate controlled environment. The facility features state-of-the-art technology.
- This project is one of the many as part of Maryland's Building Champions initiative, a campaign that enables investment in facility renovation and enhancement.
- The facility is named after the late Stanley Bobb, who pitched for the Terps from 1954-57. A member of the Greater Washington Jewish Sports Hall of Fame, Bobb was the starting pitcher in the dedication game at then-Shipley Field in 1954.
