COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Graduate goalkeeper Logan McNaney and junior attackman Eric Spanos have been named to the Tewaaraton Top 25 finalist list, as announced by the Tewaaraton Award selection committees comprised of premier college coaches.
The Tewaaraton Award is recognized as the most prestigious individual honor in college lacrosse, presented annually to the top male and female NCAA players.
McNaney has anchored the Terps with elite consistency in goal, recording double-digit saves in 10 of 11 games this season. He broke Maryland's all-time career saves record with his first stop against Ohio State on April 12, surpassing a 41-year-old mark of 705. Among his season highlights are 16-save performances against No. 1 Notre Dame and Delaware, and 12 saves in a win over No. 2 Syracuse. He has helped hold multiple top-20 opponents under their scoring averages, guiding a defensive unit that has produced several 20+ minute scoreless stretches. McNaney ranks second nationally and first in the Big Ten in goals-against average (7.52), and fifth nationally in save percentage (.610), second in the conference.
Spanos has been a key offensive catalyst for Maryland in 2025. The junior has consistently delivered in high-pressure moments, including a career-high four-goal performance at Loyola, with three coming in the fourth quarter to spark a comeback. He added three goals and an assist in the win over No. 1 Notre Dame and scored the game-winner against No. 5 Princeton. Spanos has recorded multiple goals in eight games this season and has contributed on both ends of the field with ground balls and caused turnovers. He currently leads the Terps in goals (21) and points (31), ranking fifth in the Big Ten in points and third in goals.
