Hacopian Brothers Homer Back-To-Back In Win Over Penn State, 7-4

STATE COLLEGE, PA – Brothers Eddie Hacopian and Chris Hacopian homered in the same game for the fourth time as Maryland baseball defeated Penn State, 7-4, in game one of its series at Medlar Field on Friday. Maryland improved to 21-26 overall and 7-15 in Big Ten play.

The Hacopian brothers homered back-to-back in the top of the first inning, contributing to a wire-to-wire win. After a leadoff single by Brayden Martin, Chris Hacopian swung at the first pitch and hit a two-run homer to left field. It was his ninth of the season and 24th of his career.

Up came the elder Eddie Hacopian (2-for-5), who then made it back-to-back home runs. He hit a solo shot to left field. It was his eighth home run of the season and 25th of his career. This was the fourth time both brothers homered in the same game in their two seasons together. However, it was their first time hitting back-to-back home runs.
Kyle McCoy picked up his fifth win on the mound, improving to 5-2. He pitched six innings, striking out five batters and surrendering just three runs. The redshirt sophomore eclipsed 100 career strikeouts in the game.

The Hacopian brothers were two of three Terps to homer in the game, as Jacob Orr also hit a solo shot to left field. He went 3-for-5 with two runs, adding a double. Orr leads the Terps with 17 doubles this season.

Aden Hill (2-for-4) added an RBI single and Hollis Porter drove in a run with an RBI groundout. Martin recorded multiple hits, going 2-for-3 and increasing his on-base streak to 21 games. He also scored two runs.

Logan Hastings pitched the remaining three innings. The freshman earned his second save of the season, giving up just one run on three hits. He struck out two batters, each occuring in the bottom of the ninth to close out the victory.

Penn State is now 25-18 overall and 12-13 in Big Ten play.
