Watch COLLEGE PARK, MD -- The Terps will host Fairfield, the MAAC Champion, on Friday, May 9 at noon in the first ever meeting between the two teams. The other side of the region will see Penn and Army match-up at 3 p.m., on Friday. The winners of each contest will face each other in the second round on Sunday, May 11. All of the games will air on ESPN+.

Where We've Been
- Maryland women's lacrosse secured its 35th straight NCAA Tournament appearance and will host the first and second rounds in College Park as the No. 6 seed.
- The Terps' 35 consecutive appearances (1990-2025, minus 2020 due to COVID-19) is the longest streak in the country. Overall, the Terps have won 14 NCAA Championships, the most of any program in college women's lacrosse history. Maryland has won four of the last 10 NCAA Championships (2014, 2015, 2017, 2019) and has made the NCAA Semifinals 12 times under head coach Cathy Reese (2009-19, 2022).
- No. 2 seed and No. 7-ranked Maryland was defeated by No. 1 seed and No. 3-ranked Northwestern, 8-7, in the Big Ten Tournament title game. The Terps scored four of the game's first five goals and used an incredible defensive performance to sustain a lead until the 2:38 mark of the fourth. A game after matching her career-high in saves, Suriano set a career-high 18 saves between the pipes. She tied for the most in Big Ten Tournament history, matching Penn State's Taylor Suplee in 2019. Suriano's save total was also the most by a Maryland goalie since Megan Taylor's 20 saves vs. Florida on March 29, 2017. She had 11 stops in the first half alone and was the main catalyst in Northwestern going just 0-of-9 from the free-position line.
- Fairfield will head to College Park with a 11-7 record. Grace Slatter leads the charge for the Fairfield offense, while Amanda Kozak has been the Stags' top playmaker, recording 37 assists the most in the MAAC.In goal, goalkeeper Keira Furey has lead the Fairfield defense this season. Furey owns a 11.42 goals-against average and a .393 save percentage.
Maryland will host the host the first and second rounds of NCAA Tournament after earning the sixth seed.
Edmondson and Gilmore Earn All-Big Ten Honors
- Kori Edmondson and Kayla Gilmore earn Big Ten Player of the Year Honors, as announced by the Big Ten Conference. Edmondson was named the 2025 Big Ten Midfielder of the Year, while Gilmore earned 2025 Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors.
- Edmondson, who unanimously earned a spot on the All-Big Ten First Team, has led the Terrapins' offense with a standout season. She has tallied 65 points, including 54 goals, and was named Big Ten Midfielder of the Week five times. She also earned Midseason First Team All-American honors from Inside Lacrosse and a spot on the All-Big Ten Tournament Team.
- Gilmore, a freshman midfielder, made an immediate impact for the Terps. She recorded 14 goals, nine assists, and played a key role in Maryland's efforts in the draw circle with 73 draw controls. Gilmore earned All-Big Ten Second Team honors, was named to the inaugural All-Freshman Team, and was ranked the No. 7 freshman nationally by Inside Lacrosse. A three-sport athlete in high school and the all-time scoring leader at William Floyd in basketball, Gilmore was a two-time USA Lacrosse All-American and an IL Women five-star recruit before arriving in College Park.
Thomas and Edmondson Moving Up The Charts
- With three assists in the 2025 season opener, Chrissy Thomas became just the 66th player in Maryland women's lacrosse history to reach the 100-point mark for her career. Thomas currently has 150 points, which ranks her 48th on the all-time list.
- Kori Edmondson recorded her 100th career goal against No. 3 Northwestern. Edmondson now ranks T-58th all-time on Maryland's career point list with 150 career points.

- On February 14, the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) announced the 2025 IWLCA Hall of Fame, which included Maryland head coach Cathy Reese.
- Reese has guided Maryland to five national championships (2010, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2019), 11 Final Fours, and 20 regular-season and tournament championships across the ACC and Big Ten. She is recognized as a four-time IWLCA National Coach of the Year (2010, 2014, 2015, 2019) and a 12-time Conference Coach of the Year.
- Reese joins former Maryland head coaches Cindy Timchal (Class of 2017) and Suzanne Tyler (Class of 2018) in the IWLCA Hall of Fame.
