Aaron Wiggins Wins NBA Title With Oklahoma City

COLLEGE PARK, MD – Former Terp standout Aaron Wiggins became the fourth player in program history to capture an NBA crown on Sunday night as the Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Indiana Pacers, 103-91, to win the 2025 title.
 
He joins Tony Massenburg (San Antonio, 2005), Keith Booth (Chicago Bulls, 1998), and Adrian Branch (Los Angeles Lakers, 1987) as former players who were part of NBA Championship Teams. Former Terp standout Drew Nicholas also won a title as a member of the front office staff for the Denver Nuggets in 2023.
 
Wiggins is in his fourth season with OKC after being drafted in the 2nd round (55th pick) of the 2021 draft. He has averaged a career-best 12.0 points per game this year through 76 regular season games. Overall, he has played in 274 career NBA games with 2,351 points. This year in the playoffs, he averaged 6.3 points including 21 in the opening playoff game against Memphis. His 18 points against Indiana in Game 2 of the NBA Finals marked the third-most points scored by a Terp in a finals game.
 
At Maryland, Wiggins was the 2020 Big Ten Sixth Man of the Year during his sophomore campaign. In 2021 as a junior, he averaged 14.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game earning All-Big Ten Honorable Mention accolades. Following his junior season, he declared for the NBA Draft where he was picked by Oklahoma City.
 
Through his three years at Maryland, Wiggins played in 96 career games scoring 1,052 points, while posting 445 rebounds and 150 assists.
