COLLEGE PARK, MD – The Maryland basketball program will take part in one of the premier MTEs this year as it was announced today that the Terps have been added to the 2025 Players Era Tournament in Las Vegas. Maryland will face UNLV on Monday, Nov. 24 (12 AM ET / 9 PM PT) and Gonzaga (9:30 PM ET / 6:30 PM PT) on Tuesday, Nov. 25.
Venues, television assignments, and ticket information will be released at a later date. Teams will also play championship match-up games on Wednesday, Nov. 26 and Thursday, Nov. 27 based on the results of the first two days.
This will mark the first time since 1986 that Maryland and UNLV have met and the first since 2008 for the Terps to face Gonzaga.
The Players Era Tournament will be one of the most competitive in-season tournaments ever put together. The field includes: Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, Creighton, Gonzaga, Houston, Iowa State, Kansas, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oregon, Rutgers, San Diego State, Saint Joseph's, St. John's, Syracuse, Tennessee, and UNLV.
To create a first-of-its-kind men's college basketball showcase, the 2025 Players Era Men's Championship will debut an entirely new format that combines international style-group play with championship matchups. The result will be an unmatched competitive environment where every second of every game counts and the championship matchups deliver high level games with a postseason feel.
This year's men's championship will again coincide with the opportunity for athletes on each team to engage in at least $1 million of NIL activities for Players Era and its sponsors outside of competition. Publicis Sports, the dedicated U.S. sports practice within Publicis Media, will continue to partner with EverWonder and the Players Era Men's Championship to help secure new advertising and sponsorship partners for the tournament.
Maryland is coming off a 27-9 campaign in 2024-25 which saw the Terps reach the NCAA Sweet Sixteen for the first time since 2016. In Big Ten play, Maryland finished second in the final standings with a 14-6 league record and reached the Big Ten Tournament semifinals for the first time since 2016.
On April 2, Maryland introduced Williams who will enter his first year at the helm this season. Williams has led his programs to 11 NCAA Tournament appearances and 13 20-win seasons in 18 years as a head coach.
