COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Premier Lacrosse League wrapped up its regular season this past weekend in Boston, where the Cannons hosted their homecoming weekend to finalize playoff seeding and qualification.
The PLL Playoff Quarterfinals will begin on Saturday, August 23, in Minneapolis, MN, followed by semifinal action in Philadelphia on September 1. The Championship is set for September 14.
Here's a look at how the Pro Terps performed in Week Eleven:
Philadelphia Waterdogs
The Waterdogs came up just short in a high-scoring battle against the New York Atlas, falling 20–19, but still secured a spot in the playoffs.
Connor Kelly '18 delivered a strong offensive performance, tallying four points on two one-point goals and an electric 98 mph two-point strike that helped propel the Waterdogs to the points needed for postseason qualification.
The Waterdogs will take on the Whipsnakes in the quarterfinals.
Utah Archers
The Utah Archers closed out their 2025 campaign with a hard-fought 11–10 win over the Carolina Chaos. Despite the victory, their overall record fell short of securing a playoff spot.
Maryland alum Bryce Ford '25 helped spark the Archers' offense, putting them on the board after falling into an early 3–0 deficit in the first quarter.
Maryland Whipsnakes
The Whipsnakes came up big with a playoff-clinching win over the Boston Cannons, securing their seventh straight postseason appearance. Tied 7–7 at halftime, the Whips dominated the second half, outscoring the Cannons 8–1.
Collin Heacock '17 contributed to the offensive surge with a late goal, while close defenseman Ajax Zappitello '24 anchored the defense, recording a caused turnover and three ground balls.
NY ATlas
The New York Atlas came up big with a 20–19 win over the Waterdogs, clinching the No. 1 seed in the East and earning a bye to the semifinals, where they will await their opponent.
Brett Makar '23 played a key role on defense, recording two caused turnovers and a ground ball to help secure the victory.
