COLLEGE PARK, MD -- The Terps head into their second race of the season this Friday at the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational. The 6K race will begin at 10:00 AM at PSU Cross Country Course in State College, PA.
Last Time at spiked shoe invitational
- Rose Coats led the Terps with a top-15 finish, crossing the line at 20:47.0 to get 14th overall out of 221 runners.
- As a team, the Terps finished 8th (242) out of seventeen total teams with host school Penn State taking the top score (42).
- The other top finishers for the Terps included Katie Turk (36), Eva Rogers (47), Katie Altieri (75), and Rubie Goffena (119).
Coats wins opening night xc25
- To kick off the season, Rose Coats took the top spot at the Trials of Miles run, hosted by New Balance, with a time of 16:55.7
- Coats was followed by teammates Eva Rogers and Katie Dutko who also had top-10 finishes placing 7th and 10th, respectively.
- This was the second consecutive season where Coats won the season opening meet as she also won the 2024 Salisbury Fall Classic.
Dutko named b1g freshman of the week
- Katie Dutko was named the Big Ten Women's Cross Country Freshman of the Week last week after her performance in the Terps' 2025 season opener.
- Dutko was the top freshman finisher at the Trials of Miles Opening Night XC25, presented by New Balance, finishing 10th overall with a time of 18:19.7 on the 5K course.
- This marks the first weekly honor of her career and the second consecutive year that Maryland has had a rookie earn the accolade to open the season. Current sophomore Eva Rogers earned B1G Freshman of the Week honors last year following her first collegiate race as well.
