STATE COLLEGE, PA – In their second race of the season, the Terps competed in the Harry Groves Spiked Invitational hosted by Penn State. The Terps saw three top-25 finishes led by Big Ten Runner to Watch
Rose Coats who finished second overall.
Coats crossed the line first for the Terps out of 113 runners. She completed the 6k course with a time of 20:18.8 - her best time at Penn State's Spiked Shoe Invitational for her career and her fifth-best time on a 6K course overall. She finished nearly 30 seconds faster than last year's race where she placed 14th overall.
Eva Rogers placed 19th (21:28.2) followed by Katie Dutko (21.42.2) who finished 24th. The top five was rounded out by Alice Kredell (36th, 22:10.1) and Leonora Lynn (45th, 22:24.0).
Host school Penn State took the top spot in team finishes with a score of 19. Syracuse finished second with a score of 50, followed by Pittsburgh with a score of 108. Maryland finished just behind Pittsburgh, coming in fourth with a score of 109. The top-5 team scores were closed out by Buffalo with a score of 160.
Penn State enters the 2025 campaign ranked 15th nationally and third in the Mid-Atlantic Region, while Syracuse ranks 29th nationally and fourth in the Northeast Region. Pittsburgh entered the meet ranked seventh in the Mid-Atlantic Region, just two spots ahead of Maryland.
