COLLEGE PARK, MD – No. 10 Maryland Terrapins returns to action on Friday for their Big Ten Conference opener hosting the No. 16 Penn State Nittany Lions in College Park. The No. 10-ranked Terps will face the No. 16-ranked Nittany Lions at 5 p.m. on Friday.  Â

Fans planning to attend the Penn State vs. Maryland game Friday can pay to park in lot XV1 which is right across the street from the field hockey complex or pay to park on the top level of Regents Drive Garage. Additionally, after 4:00 p.m. fans can park for free in lot 11B and 9B.Â

- No. 16 Penn State is coming into College Park after starting the season 4-1. Last week, Penn State dominated Kent State 5-2 and beat Bucknell 2-1 to extend its win streak to four games. Freshman forward Josephine Purdy is leading the way for the Nittany Lions with seven points, off three goals and one assist.
- Ella Jennes, Anouk Knuvers, and Sophia Mannino were selected to the 2025 Big Ten Field Hockey preseason Players to Watch list.
- Penn State took down No. 9 Saint Joseph's 2-1 in overtime on September 7. Anouk Knuvers scored in regulation and Olivia Marthins tipped in a Katelyn Strawser shot in overtime to lift the Lions to the win.
- Last season, Penn State finished 8-9 and was ranked 16th in the NFHCA post season coaches' poll.

- Head coach Missy Meharg is in her fourth decade at the helm of the Maryland field hockey program in 2025, along the way building a program rich with a winning tradition. Voted National Coach of the Year an unprecedented nine times, Meharg has exemplified the tradition of excellence Maryland field hockey has become known for, a program with eight National Championships and 27 conference championships - solidifying the Terrapins' position among the top programs in the nation.
- Maryland held the Pave the Way Clinic through the USA Field Hockey Foundation at the Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex this past weekend.Â
- Former Terps and Olympians Katie Kauffman Beach, Jill Witmer Funk, and Katie O'Donnell Bam are returned to College Park as coaches of the clinic
- Kauffman Beach played for Maryland from 1992-94 and 1996. She was inducted into the Maryland Hall of Fame in 2009
- Jill Witmer Funk played at Maryland from 2010-2013. She was decorated player and became a volunteer assistant coach for the Terps in 2014
- Katie O'Donnell Bam led Maryland to the 2008 and 2010 NCAA Championships. She was the third Maryland student-athlete to be a four-time First Team All-American
