Orlinska Shines, Wins Four Matches At ITA All-American Championship

CARY, NC -- The University of Maryland Women's Tennis Team sent three members of the Terps roster to the ITA All-American Championship held in Cary, NC, that began on September 20th.
Emma Ghirardato, Oliwia Orlinska, and Ema Kovacevic represented the Terps in the pre-qualifying of the singles tournament and qualifying of doubles.
Over the 4 days of singles competition, Kovacevic went 0-2, Ghirardato went 2-1, and Orlinska finished with a 4-1 record. Orlinska advanced to the round of 32 in the qualifying round. The 47th-ranked doubles Pair of Kovacevic and Ghiradato went 1-1 on the weekend.
"There are so many positives to take away from this week," said Associate Head Coach Ruth Seaborne. "Oliwia had a great tournament and came very close to qualifying for the main draw. She's playing great tennis and competing well. It's been very rewarding to see the growth in her as a player over the past year, and we believe she's just starting to scratch the surface. Emma G picked up her first wins as a Terp and showed she has the ability to win at a high level. Our doubles team did a nice job bouncing back after the first day and beating a good nationally ranked Ohio State team. This is a longer, physically taxing tournament, and the team did a great job leaning into the challenge."

The Terps are back in action in two weeks with 6 players heading to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to compete in the Cissie Leary Tournament, which begins on October 3rd.
Emma Ghirardato, Oliwia Orlinska, and Ema Kovacevic represented the Terps in the pre-qualifying of the singles tournament and qualifying of doubles.
