Maryland Falls 1-0 to James Madison in Road Loss

The Dukes scored the match's only goal in the first half and held on to defeat the Terps.

HARRISONBURG, VA - Maryland (4-3) fell on the road to James Madison (4-1-2) 1-0 on Thursday night. The Dukes scored in the first half for the match's only goal and held on after a heavily-defensive second half. 

JMU got on the board in the 23rd minute as Ginny Lackey snuck a goal past the Maryland defense. Terps goalkeeper Faith Luckey faced eight shots and made three saves in the first half, but the Dukes took a 1-0 lead into the break. 

James Madison held on in the second half to fight off a Maryland rally and earn its fourth win of the season. 

How it Happened:
  • JMU recorded the first shot in the eighth minute, but Luckey made her first save of the night. 
  • James Madison scored in the 23rd minute on a goal by Lackey as a pair of Dukes tallied assists. 
  • Kelsey Smith recorded Maryland's first shot in the 23rd minute. 
  • Luckey made five saves while facing 13 shots across two halves in goal.
