Solomon Washington posted his third double-double of the season against the ranked Fighting Illini on Wednesday.

CHAMPAIGN, IL — Maryland took on the No. 11 Fighting Illini in a Wednesday night Big Ten battle, but 15 three-pointers from Illinois — the seventh-ranked NET team — earned the home team a 89-70 win over the Terps (8-11, 1-7 Big Ten).

One game after dropping 43 points in a win over Penn State, David Coit scored in double figures again, scoring 15 points, tallying five assists, and moving his season three-point total to 53, which is tied for the third-highest mark in the Big Ten.

Andre Mills tied his career high with 16 points while hitting a career-high four three-pointers. He tallied his ninth-career double-digit game, with all of his points coming in a strong second half.

A thumping dunk from Solomon Washington highlighted his 13-point, 10-rebound game. He recorded his fifth double-double of his career — and third of the season — while leading the Terps in boards.

Illinois got 11 of its first 22 points from Andrej Stojakovic, who finished with 30 points to lead all scorers. Illinois went on a 21-2 run late in the first half to snag a lead and move to 16-3 on the season and 7-1 in Big Ten play.

How It Happened:
1st Half:

A Coit three got the night's scoring started.
Coit tied the game at 9-9 with a jumper four minutes in.
Washington's first points gave the Terps an 11-9 lead.
Coit reached seven points five minutes in with a jumper.
The Terps started 6-of-7 from the floor to lead 13-11.
A Myles Rice three put Maryland up, 20-19, midway through the half.
Aleks Alston buried a three to put Maryland up 24-19 during a 7-0 run.
Illinois used a 13-0 run to claim a 35-26 lead with four minutes left in the half.
Coit reached double figures with a layup in the final minutes.
The Fighting Illini led 47-30 at the half.

2nd Half:

Elijah Saunders hit a three for Maryland's first points of the half.
Washington threw a vicious dunk down early in the half.
Washington reached double figures with a layup.
Andre Mills hit a deep three six minutes into the half.
Illinois expanded its lead with an 8-0 run midway through the half.
Washington clinched his double-double with his 10th rebound with seven minutes to play.
Mills reached double figures with his fourth field goal of the day.
Illinois held on to close out the 89-70 win.

Coit (15 points) tallied his sixth double-digit performance in his past seven games, the 12th of his season, and the 68th of his career.

As reigning National Player of the Week and Big Ten Co-Player of the Week, Coit continued his hot play with 15 points and five assists.
Coit has now scored 88 points across his last three games.
His 53 three-pointers this season are tied for the third-most in the Big Ten this season.
