COLLEGE PARK, MD-  No. 12 Maryland (3–4, 0–1 B1G) returns to the road for its second conference matchup of the 2026 campaign, traveling to Ann Arbor to face Michigan (3–6, 0–1 B1G) at 2 p.m. on the Big Ten Network. The Terps opened conference play in State College, falling to the #9 Nittany Lions, 10–6.

The 2026 campaign represents the 101st season of Maryland men's lacrosse. The program has produced 532 All-Americans, appeared in 30 Final Fours, and captured four NCAA national championships. The Terps have finished .500 or better in every season.

Where we've been ...
  • The reigning national runner-up Terrapins are coming off an NCAA-best 22nd consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and their 30th Final Four overall, the most of any program. Maryland advanced to the NCAA Championship game for the ninth time in the last 14 tournaments and the 18th time in program history, beating Syracuse 14-8 in the NCAA Semifinal. The Terps finished 14–4 and recorded double-digit wins for the 22nd straight season, the longest active streak in NCAA Division I men's lacrosse.
  • Maryland heads into its second conference matchup after a 10–6 road loss to No. 9 Penn State. Despite the loss, the Terps held the Nittany Lions to 10 goals—the third time this season they have limited an opponent to 10 or fewer. Goalie Brian Ruppel recorded 11 saves, his sixth game this season with double-digit saves. Senior LSM AJ Larkin led the team with two transition goals and added four ground balls and two caused turnovers..

Series history
  • The Terps and Michigan will meet for the 15th time in program history and 15th consecutive season, with the first matchup coming in 2014 when Maryland joined the Big Ten. The Terps lead the all-time series, 10–4.
  • Last season, Michigan defeated the then-No. 1 Terps in triple overtime in College Park. Despite the loss, Braden Erksa led the offense with five points (one goal, four assists), while Eric Spanos added two goals and an assist.
About the coaches
  • John Tillman is in his 19th season as a head coach and his 16th with the Terps, owning a 217–78 career record for a .736 winning percentage, the highest among all active Division I coaches. Highlighted by an undefeated 2022 campaign, Tillman is 197-59 (.770)  as Maryland's head coach.
  • Kevin Conry enters his ninth season as head coach of Michigan men's lacrosse in 2026 after being named the program's second head coach in 2017. Conry has led the Wolverines to back-to-back Big Ten Tournament titles (2023, 2024) and consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, while producing the program's first All-Americans. He previously served as an assistant coach, defensive coordinator, and associate head coach at Maryland, where he was part of the Terrapins' 2017 national championship staff.

  • Several Terps rank among the top five in the Big Ten in their respective categories.
  • On offense, Leo Johnson is tied for third in total points with 28 and ranks second in points per game at 4.6. Fellow attacker Braden Erksa is fourth in assists per game (1.6) and tied for fourth in total assists with 11.
  • In goal, Brian Ruppel leads the conference in saves per game (10.7) and ranks third in total saves with 148.

Early Success at the Face-off 
  • The Terps' faceoff unit, featuring Henry Dodge and Jonah Carrier, is one of the most successful in the country, boasting a .600 win percentage that ranks eighth nationally.
  • Senior faceoff specialist Dodge is second in the country winning .673 of his draws.
Big Crowds come out for the terps
  • In 2026, Maryland is currently second in home attendance averaging, 3,388 fans
  • Maryland played in two of the three highest-attended regular-season games of the 2025 men's college lacrosse season, highlighted by a crowd of 10,137 fans when the Terps faced Notre Dame in Atlanta.
  • The Terps ranked second nationally in home attendance despite playing the fewest home games among the top five programs, drawing a total of 28,079 fans.
  • Maryland was also second nationally in average attendance in 2025 (4,011).
  • SECU Stadium also hosted the third-largest regular-season crowd of 2025 when Maryland welcomed Johns Hopkins, attracting 10,123 fans.
Active Career Leaders
  • Terp newcomers Leo Johnson, Chris Lyons, and Henry Dodge all rank on the national active career leaderboards in several categories.
  • Lyons is currently third in the the nation in career goals and second in goals per game, totaling 140 career goals and averaging 2.92 goals per game.
  • Johnson ranks among the top five nationally in total points with 200 and is also eighth in career goals with 119.
  • Dodge is tied for second among active players nationally in career faceoff win percentage, having won 62.9% of his draws.

  • The Terps are also a conference-best 12-6 (.667) all-time in Big Ten Tournament games.
