Five Terps Collect All-Big Ten Honors

COLLEGE PARK, MD -- Five members of No. 4 Maryland women's lacrosse team earned All-Big Ten honors, the conference announced Tuesday. Honorees include Kori Edmondson, Lauren LaPointe, JJ Suriano, Kayla Gilmore, and Maddy Sterling, while Olivia Rockstroh was recognized with the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.

LaPointe earned unanimous All-Big Ten First Team honors following an outstanding junior campaign leading the Terrapins' offense. She led the team with 75 points and 54 goals, doubling her goal total from last season. LaPointe was named both the IWLCA and Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week and earned Midseason All-America honors from Inside Lacrosse. Against No. 7 Johns Hopkins, she delivered a career-best performance with seven goals and 10 points in a 15–12 road victory. She has recorded four or more points in 13 of 16 games this season.

Edmondson received unanimous All-Big Ten First Team recognition for the second consecutive season. The senior has made an impact across the field, ranking third on the team with 47 points on 36 goals and 11 assists, while also placing second with 57 draw controls. Edmondson earned Big Ten Midfielder of the Week honors twice this season.

Suriano turned in an impressive junior season, leading the conference in saves per game (10.38), total saves (166), and save percentage (.520). She also ranked first nationally in save percentage throughout the regular season.

Gilmore earned All-Big Ten First Team honors for the first time in her career. The sophomore leads the team with 85 draw controls and ranks third with 17 ground balls, while adding 11 points on the season.

Sterling also garnered First Team All-Big Ten recognition for the first time. A cornerstone of Maryland's defense, she leads the team with 14 caused turnovers and ranks second with 20 ground balls. Sterling has consistently matched up against and limited some of the nation's top offensive players.

Rockstroh rounds out Maryland's conference honors with the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award, the first such recognition of her career.

No. 4 Maryland opens postseason play against Ohio State in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament. The Terrapins secured the No. 2 seed after finishing conference play with a 6–2 record and will face the seventh-seeded Buckeyes on Wednesday, April 22, at 3 p.m. in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Maryland is seeking its fifth Big Ten Tournament title since joining the conference in 2014 and the 15th tournament championship in program history.
