COLUMBUS, OH – The #7-seeded University of Maryland women's tennis team lost to the #3-seeded Michigan in the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament 4-1.
This was the first time Maryland has made it to the Big Ten Tournament semifinals.
In the doubles round, the Terps earned the point after winning the first two doubles matches, 6-3 and 6-3!
In singles, the Terps got one first-set victory from
Diya Challa; however, Michigan took the first four singles matches to secure the victory.
Diya Challa's and
Tamari Gagoshidze's matches went unfinished, and the match was called after the clinch.
Although a disappointing result, the Terps had a historic run in this year's Big Ten Tournament, defeating #10-seeded Northwestern on Thursday and #2-seeded USC on Friday!
Friday's win against USC was the highest-ranked win the Terps have had in 14 years.
