Men's Tennis Stumbles Against Clemson 7-0

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland men's tennis team (4-8, 0-5 ACC) fell to Clemson (4-14, 1-3 ACC) Saturday at home. The Tigers swept Maryland, taking all singles and doubles matches.
In singles play, sophomore Chris Chiu (Columbia, Md.) fell to Brad Emendorfer 6-2, 7-6 at the No. 1 position. At the No. 2 spot, senior Jonathan Neeter (Old Tappan, N.J.) lost to Darren Knight 6-2, 6-0. At the No. 3 position, junior Jonathan Murchison (Orchard Park, N.Y.) dropped his match to Micah Thompson 6-1, 6-2. At the No. 4 spot, senior Luan Nguyen (Tamuning, Guam) fell to Jamin Thompson 6-4, 6-4. Senior Larry Chou (Rockville, Md.) lost to Damiisa Robinson 6-0, 6-3 at the No. 5 position. At the No. 6 spot, senior Dan Kenshalo (Gaithersburg, Md.) fell to Kevin Gottfried 6-4, 6-1.
In doubles competition, Emandorfer and Knight teamed up for Clemson to overpower Neeter and Chou, taking the match 8-1 at the No. 1 position. At the No. 2 spot, Murchison and Nguyen lost to Eric Cohen and J. Thompson 9-7. Kenshalo and Chiu fell to Robinson and Gottfried of Clemson 8-3 at the No. 3 position.
The Terps will be back in action tomorrow to face No. 23 Georgia Tech. Match time is set for 9:30 a.m. inside the University of Maryland Tennis Bubble located adjacent to campus on Rt. 193.
