Men's Tennis Falls To No. 23 Georgia Tech 7-0

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland men's tennis team (4-9, 0-6 ACC) lost to No. 23 Georgia Tech (13-4, 3-1 ACC) Sunday at home. Georgia Tech swept both singles and doubles matches.
In singles play, sophomore Chris Chiu (Columbia, Md.) fell to Romain Coirault 7-5, 7-5 at the No. 1 position. Sunday's loss brings Chiu's record to 6-6 on the season. At the No. 2 spot, senior Jonathan Neeter (Old Tappan, N.J.) lost to Stephen Moros 6-0, 6-2. At the No. 3 spot, senior Luan Nguyen (Tamuning, Guam) fell to Alex Navinkov 7-6, 6-2, dropping his mark to 2-3 at the No. 3 position. After taking the first set, junior Jonathan Murchison (Orchard Park, N.Y.) dropped his match to Joao Menano 3-6, 7-6, 6-3 at the No. 4 position. Senior Larry Chou (Rockville, Md.) lost to Sergio Aguirre 6-0, 2-6, 6-2 at the No. 5 position. At the No. 6 spot, senior Dan Kenshalo (Gaithersburg, Md.) fell to Jason Jeong 6-1, 6-0.
In doubles competition, Neeter and Chou teamed up at the No. 1 spot, but could not hold off Roger Anderson and David Wright of Georgia Tech, falling 8-1. Nguyen and Murchison lost to Coirault and Menano 8-3 dropping their record together to 6-5. Chiu and Kenshalo fell to Aguirre and Moros by a score of 8-4.
The Terps will hit the road for the final two matches of the season against N.C. State on April 7th and Virginia on April 10th. Match time for the N.C. State match is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
