Men's Tennis Stumbles Against N.C. State 7-0

RALEIGH, NC - The University of Maryland men's tennis team (4-10, 0-7 ACC) lost to N.C. State (6-15, 1-4 ACC) on Saturday at the Wolfpack Tennis Center.
In singles competition, sophomore Chris Chiu (Columbia, Md.) dropped his match 6-2, 6-3 to Eric Jackson at the No. 1 position. The loss brings Chiu's record for the season to 6-7. Senior Jonathan Neeter (Old Tappan, N.J.) lost to Michael Carducci 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 2 spot. In the No. 3 position, junior Jonathan Murchison (Orchard Park, N.Y.) lost his eighth singles match of the season, falling to Reinaldo Valor 6-4, 6-4. Senior Luan Nguyen (Tamuning, Guam) dropped his match to Brad Kilgore at the No. 4 position 6-3, 6-2. At the No. 5 spot, senior Larry Chou (Rockville, Md.) fell to 4-10 in singles play this season, losing to Ryan Boward 6-3, 6-2 on Saturday. At the No. 6 position, senior Dan Kenshalo (Gaithersburg, Md.) lost to Bryce McGrory 6-1, 6-2.
The Terps struggled in doubles competition as well, dropping all three matches to N.C. State. Chou and Neeter teamed up for the 10th time this year, but could not knock off Jackson and Valor of N.C. State, falling 8-3 on the No. 1 position. At the No. 2 spot, Murchison and Nguyen couldn't hold off Carducci and John Davis of the Wolfpack, falling 8-3. Chiu and Kenshalo fell to 2-4 on ACC doubles play together, losing to Boward and Kilgore 8-6.
Maryland will be in action again on Tuesday wrapping up their regular season at Virginia. Match time is set for 2:30 p.m.
