The Maryland men's tennis team fell to the Miami Hurricanes, 6-1, on Sunday afternoon at the Tennis Center at College Park. With the loss the Terps are 8-8 on the season, and 0-6 in ACC conference play.
The Terps began play on Sunday afternoon with an impressive doubles victory at the number one position. The tandem of Ian Bliss and Troy Demers defeated Tim Krebs and Vivek Subramania, 8-6. The Hurricanes took the next two doubles match to take a 1-0 lead over Maryland. Josh Cohen and Eric Hechtman topped Michael Coleman and Josh Brauser, 8-3. Luis Manrique and Ryan Waits defeated Scott Fink and David Reichsfeld, 6-2, 6-0.
In singles play, Miami took five of six matches to win the match, 6-1. Michael Coleman recored the lone singles victory for the Terps, by defeating Ryan Waits in three sets, 2-6, 7-5, 1-0(10-6). In the number one singles matchup Josh Cohen topped Ian Bliss,6-4, 6-1. Troy Demers won the first set of his match with Tim Krebs, 6-3. Krebs bounced back to take the second set 6-3, and the tiebreaker, 10-3. Eric Hechtman downed Scott Fink, 6-3, 6-4. Vivek Subramania defeated Josh Brauser, 6-3, 6-3.
Maryland will be back in action on Wednesday afternoon, in Charlottesville, Va., as they face the Virginia Cavaliers at 2:30 p.m.
