Men's Tennis Falls To Virginia, 7-0

Charlottesville, Va. - The Maryland men's tennis team suffered its fourth consecutive loss on Wednesday afternoon, falling to the Virginia Cavaliers in Charlottesville, Va., 7-0. With the loss the Terps are now 8-9 on the season and 0-8 in the ACC.

Virginia took an early 1-0 lead over the Terps by taking all three doubles matches. In singles play, it was more of the same for the Cavaliers. At the no. 1 singles position Doug Stewart defeated Troy Demers, 6-4, 6-4. Ian Bliss fell to Rylan Rizza at the no.2 singles position, 6-2, 6-2. Somdev Devvarman topped Scott Fink, 6-3, 6-2. David Reichsfeld lost his match against Treat Huey, 6-1, 6-1. Josh Brauser was downed by Nick Meythaler, 6-4, 6-1. Stephen Rozer topped Michael Coleman in the final match 6-3, 6-2.

The Terps will host two matches over the weekend at the Tennis Center at College Park. First up is a match with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Friday at 2 p.m. On Saturday, Maryland will face the Clemson Tigers at 12 p.m.
