As a Sophomore (2016): Appeared in 13 games with one start…dealt with injury that held him out for most of the middle of the season…batted .111 and scored two runs…made his season debut as a pinch runner against Rhode Island (2/27)…scored a run as a pinch runner against Southeastern Louisiana (3/5)…nabbed a pinch hit single against George Washington (3/9)…made his first start of the season against Minnesota (4/17)…scored a run as a pinch runner against Purdue (4/23).

As a Freshman (2015): Played in 49 games and started 35 games in the outfield…batted .202 with six doubles and 19 RBIs…walked 24 times…made his collegiate debut against Western Kentucky (2/13) as a pinch runner….notched his first career at bat at South Alabama (2/20)...recorded his first career hit, RBI and run against UNC-W (3/8)…notched a two-hit, two-RBI game against Princeton (3/13)…nabbed two hits, two runs and two RBIs against Elon (3/17)…notched a career high three hits and two RBIs versus Minnesota (3/21)…played three games against Michigan (3/28-29)…notched two hits against Nebraska (4/4)…scored two runs versus West Virginia (4/7)…drove in a career high three RBIs and recorded two hits and a run against Iowa (4/10)…produced a hit and a run against Cal state Fullerton (4/18)…started three games against Purdue (4/24-26)…matched a career high with three RBIs against Ohio State (5/8) while also notching two hits…matched a career high with three hits (5/10) and notched two RBIs against Ohio State (5/10)…grabbed two runs against Liberty (5/12)…reached base twice against Michigan State in the Big Ten Tournament (5/20)…reached base three times, stole a base and scored a run against Indiana in the Big Ten Tournament (5/23).

At Ridgewood: Four-year letterwinner for the Maroons in baseball and a letterwinner in soccer as a senior … served as team captain for the baseball and soccer teams as a senior … earned Perfect Game USA Northeast All-Region team honors in 2014 … was a three-time all-league selection … earned second team all-county honors as a senior … selected by MSG Varsity as a honorable mention all-state performer … as a sophomore, helped the Maroons to a New Jersey sectional championship.

Personal: Son of Ryuta and Rie Kawahara … brother Yuki plays baseball at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa … father, Ryuta, ran track at Columbia … a four-year member of the Ridgewood honor roll … plans to major in finance and pursue a career in investment banking.
