  • All-Big Ten Academic Team (2018)

As a senior (2018): Saw action in 15 games…had 2 assists in 6-1 win over UC Davis (Aug. 27)…scored first goal of season in 4-3 win over #3 Duke (Sep. 2)…added an assist in 5-1 win at Michigan State (Sep. 15)…scored a goal in 9-1 win over #19 Ohio State in Big Ten Semifinals (Nov. 2)… part of team that won Big Ten regular season and tournament titles and advanced to NCAA Championship game…named to All-Big Ten Academic Team.

As a junior (2017): Saw action in 21 games and started in seven...added an assist vs. #12 Boston College (Sept. 3)...assisted on Terps' first goal in 8-0 rout vs. Towson (Sept. 8)...scored in 61st minute to send game vs. #6 Michigan to double overtime (Sept. 29)...scored in Terps' 5-4 win at #3 Virginia (Oct. 17)...notched first career hat trick in win at #21 Rutgers (Oct. 22)...part of team that advanced to the NCAA Championship game.

Before Maryland: Played freshman and sophomore seasons at James Madison…was named CAA Rookie of the Year and to the All-CAA Second Team in 2015…also named VaSID Rookie of the Year and VaSID All-State Second Team as well…racked up 28 points as a freshman with nine goals and 10 assists…named CAA Rookie of the Week twice…saw action in 20 games and started in 18 as a sophomore in 2016…added four goals with six assists on the year…scored first JMU goal of the season 19 seconds into opener…led York High School to the Southern Cape Ladies League title in both 2012 and 2014…recipient of the Best Female Hockey Player Award at York…Represented her region multiple times by competing on the Under-16 & Under-18 South Western District squads, the Southern Cape Ladies team and the Eastern Province Under-21 team…won a gold medal at the 2012 Interprovincial Tournament with the Southern Cape Ladies.

Personal: Melissa Wilken…parents are Marius and Petra Wilken…has one brother, Matthew…started playing hockey at the age of 10…came to Maryland because of the coaching staff's incredible collective experience, reputation, passion, and culture towards field hockey…loves rock climbing and can play the guitar...Majoring in Kinesiology.
