Shanice Abrams is in her third year with Maryland Athletics, serving as the Director of Facilities, Operations, and Special Events. In this role, Abrams directs the comprehensive management, operational strategy, and scheduling for all athletic facilities to include SECU Stadium and Jones-Hill House. Additionally, she leads the athletic department’s internship program, mentoring and developing the next generation of sports administration professionals.
Prior to arriving in College Park, Abrams spent seven years as a District Athletic Director for the D.C. Interscholastic Athletic Association (DCIAA). There, she spearheaded athletic programming including soccer, cross country, and track & field for more than 100 schools across the D.C. Public School system. During her impactful tenure, she expanded the district's social media footprint, launched a premier internship pipeline, and championed initiatives that elevated student-athlete and coach engagement.
Abrams brings a wealth of collegiate sports experience to Maryland, having previously served in various operational and administrative roles at multiple NCAA institutions, including Florida A&M University, the University of Central Florida, the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC), and Morgan State University.
Abrams is a Connecticut native and earned her Bachelor of Science in Sports Administration from Morgan State University in 2009 and a Master’s degree in Athletic Program Leadership from Goucher College in 2011.
