Seth Allen

  • Title
    Graduate Assistant
Former Terp and Virginia Tech standout Seth Allen joined the Maryland men’s basketball staff as a graduate assistant in September 2025. Allen returned to College Park after serving the past season as an assistant coach at Barry University.

“From early in our relationship, I repeatedly told Seth that while his gifts as a player were easy to recognize, his greatest impact to the game would be as a coach. I never envisioned that nine years later his Division I coaching career would also be where his playing career began,” said Williams. “The relationships he has as a former Terp and a proud native of the DMV will only accelerate his coaching aspirations. I am excited to be around him again every day and realize the unique perspective he will bring to us on and off the floor.”

The native of Woodbridge, VA, played at Maryland from 2012-14 before transferring to Virginia Tech where he was an All-ACC player under Williams from 2014-17. In his two seasons with Maryland, he averaged 9.8 points per game including 13.4 as a sophomore.

In Blacksburg, he averaged 14.0 points in two active seasons (2015-17) and was named to the All-ACC Tournament second team in 2016. As a redshirt senior, Allen was named the ACC Sixth Man of the Year and earned All-ACC Honorable Mention honors. He averaged 13.3 points per game on 53.4 percent shooting that season leading the Hokies to a 22-11 record and an NCAA Tournament appearance.

Prior to spending last season on the staff at Barry, Allen also coached the 2023-24 campaign at Florida National where he served as an offensive and defensive coordinator as well as lead scout. He also coordinated travel and led the strength and conditioning program.

Allen has an extensive playing resume, having seen tours all over the world, including three stints in the G League, and seasons in Hungary, Lithuania, Italy, Finland, Germany and Greece.

He earned his undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech in sociology, with a focus on criminology, in 2017.
