Miranda Matias joined the Terrapins in September 2021 and currently serves as an Athletic Academic Counselor for Women’s Basketball, Softball, and Men's Golf. She is entering her sixth academic year with the Barry and Mary Gossett Center for Academic and Personal Excellence. In addition to her role as an Academic Counselor, Miranda also oversees the student athlete summer bridge program and the exhausted eligibility program.
Before joining Maryland Athletics, Miranda spent two years at University of Nevada, Reno, where she served as the Academic Advisor for Men’s and Women’s Tennis and Men’s Basketball. Prior to her time at Nevada, she worked for four years at University at Buffalo as an Academic Performance Specialist supporting student-athletes across multiple programs.
A native of Buffalo, Miranda earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from University at Buffalo and a Master of Science in School Counseling from Canisius University. As a former student-athlete, Miranda also attended University of Alabama, where she was a member of the swimming and diving team.
