Tyler Sakimura (SACK-ee-MOR-uh) joined Maryland in August of 2025 as the Director of Fan Development & Event Marketing. In his role, he oversees fan engagement initiatives for Terrapin Men's Basketball team and oversees the Fan Engagement Internship program.
He previously served as the Assistant Director of Marketing at the University of Virginia, overseeing the marketing and fan engagement initiatives for several teams, and was a Marketing Coordinator at Old Dominion University's Athletics Revenue Generation and Marketing team.
Sakimura received his Bachelor's in Business Marketing from the University of Mary Washington, and a Masters in Sports Management from Old Dominion University.
An Army brat, Sakimura has lived in Georgia, North Carolina, Kansas, Washington (state) and Virginia. He currently resides in Montgomery County.
