Tyler Sakimura (SACK-ee-MOR-uh) joined Maryland in August of 2025 as the Director of Fan Development & Event Marketing. In his role, he oversees fan engagement initiatives for the Terrapin Men's Basketball, Softball, Cross Country, and Track & Field programs, and oversees the Fan Engagement Internship program.
He previously served as the Assistant Director of Marketing at the University of Virginia from 2023 to 2025, overseeing the marketing and fan engagement initiatives for several teams. Prior to his time with the Hoos, Sakimura was a Marketing Assistant for Old Dominion University's Athletics Revenue Generation and Marketing team from 2021 to 2023.
Sakimura received his Bachelor's in Business Marketing from the University of Mary Washington, and a Masters in Sports Management from Old Dominion University.
An Army brat, Sakimura previously lived in Georgia, North Carolina, Kansas, Washington (state) and Virginia. He currently resides in Prince George's County.
