He joins the Terps after three years as the Associate Athletics Director for Communications at Florida Gulf Coast University. Additionally, Sinnett has worked at the University of Massachusetts, Campbell University, and East Carolina.
At FGCU, Sinnett was responsible for all strategic communications for FGCU's 15 teams, which included the direction of all media, public relations and social media efforts. He was a member of the department's senior staff, and was also a member of the FGCU Crisis Communications Response Team for the University overall.
Sinnett spent 15 years at the University of Massachusetts, the last eight where he served as the Assistant AD for Communication. In that position, he served as the primary media contact for the men's basketball, women's lacrosse and women's soccer programs and previously served as a primary contact for football, women's basketball, men's lacrosse, hockey and all other Olympic sport programs during his tenure.
While there, Sinnett served as the unit's point person for approximately $75 million in new facility/infrastructure construction, which included the football press box, football practice facility, video production suite, the Mullins Center video boards and one of the largest fiber optic cabling projects on campus. He was also the executive producer for the UMass Sports Network, which included radio shows, digital content, podcasts and The UMass Insider, the departmental bi-weekly television show.
The North Carolina native got his start at UMass as an assistant director for communications from 2004-07 before being elevated to an associate director role. During that time, he created a video streaming initiative and a television package with local affiliates where UMass produced and transmitted live events for digital cable channels.
Prior to his time at UMass, Sinnett served as the assistant director for athletic media services at Campbell University from 2002-04, where he was the contact for women's basketball, volleyball, softball and track and field contact. He also served as a media relations intern at East Carolina in 2001-02.
Sinnett is a 2001 graduate of Wake Forest University. He is married to Tanis Smith Sinnett and the couple has three children - Tayte, Teagan and Tanner - and two dogs, T.J. and Tango.
