Before Maryland: Attended and wrestled at Shelby HS with a 3.65 GPA...accumulated a 145-16 career record at Shelby...all-conference...conference and regional champion...three-time North Carolina state placer...received all-state honors twice...state finalist...also wrestled for Commitment to Excellence (C2K) Wrestling Academy

Personal: Son of Rich and Danielle Berkowitz...mom ran track at Bowling Green from 1988-92...has a brother, Jack, and a sister, Alyvia...aspires to become a chiropractor
