- Maryland fell to 14-5 on the season and suffered its second ACC loss in tonight's 98-96 overtime loss to No. 2 Duke. The defeat was No. 8 Maryland's second overtime loss of the season.
- The Terps carried a 46-37 lead into the half of tonight's game, continuing the trend this season as it has not trailed at the half in a single game of 2000-01.
- Maryland's 46 first-half points were the most by a Duke opponent this season and the most posted against the Blue Devils since February 9, 2000, when the Terps posted 47 in a 98-87 win at Cameron. Duke was ranked third in the country coming into that game.
- The Terrapins' best stretch of the game came in the middle of the first half. From 16:14 left in the half to the 2:42 mark, Maryland outscored Duke 40-17.
- Maryland's 98 points for the game were the most by any Duke opponent this season. The Terrapins had scored 90 by the end of regulation -- that total, too, would have been more than the 85 scored by Villanova in Duke's second game of this year.
- Terence Morris and the bench played a huge role in Maryland's ability to obtain a first half lead. After a slow start saw the Terrapins down 12-4, Morris -- who scored the Terps first six point of the game -- and non-starters Tahj Holden, Drew Nicholas, Danny Miller and Mike Mardesich combined for 24 of the Terps first 32 points to turn a eight-point deficit into a six-point lead (32-26).
- For the game, Maryland's bench outscored Duke's 35-4. The Terps were also more effective in the paint, outscoring the Blue Devils, 42-18.
- The Terps shot 51.3 percent from the field as a team tonight snapping a string of eight consecutive games that Duke had held its opponent below 50 percent.
- Maryland's 13 steals were the most against Duke this season (previous was 12 twice) and the Terps forced a season-high 22 turnovers by the Blue Devils as well.
- Holden was huge off of the bench, scoring a season-high 14 points and coming away with seven rebounds. The sophomore, who recently returned from injury, actually had his season-high point total by halftime as he had scored eight.
- With three steals tonight, junior Juan Dixon broke the 200 plateau for his career in steals. Dixon now has 201 for his career, a total that ranks third on the Terrapin all-time list.
- Byron Mouton had 13 points and 12 rebounds tonight for his first career double-double (including his time spent at Tulane).
- Steve Blake's nine assists matched his career best versus an ACC opponent, a total he equaled against Clemson earlier this year.
