Terps Face Davidson In NIT Second Round On Wednesday

March 21, 2005

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland men's basketball team (17-12) will take on the Davidson Wildcats (23-8) in the second round of the National Invitation Tournament (NIT), to be played on Wednesday, March 23, at Comcast Center at 8 p.m. Those unable to make it to Comcast Center will be able to watch the national broadcast on ESPN2.

The Terps advanced to the second round after an 85-72 victory over Mid-Continent conference champion Oral Roberts on Wednesday, March 16. Junior forward Travis Garrison led four Maryland double-figure scorers with an 18-point, 11 rebound double-double effort, while guard Mike Jones made his third-career start, drilling three 3-pointers en route to an 18-point performance.

Davidson downed Virginia Commonwealth, 77-62 in Richmond on March 16, before posting an 82-71 victory at SW Missouri State on Saturday, March 19.

Should the Terrapins win on Wednesday, they will likely host an early-afternoon third round NIT game on Saturday, March 26, at Comcast Center.

Tickets for the NIT games as Comcast Center are on sale for $25, which includes a parking fee. Parking will be available in most Comcast Center lots, and arriving fans will be directed toward the available lots on game night.
