The University of Maryland hosted the Terrapin Time Trial this Saturday, October 7. The meet served as an opportunity for Maryland swimmers to race competitively in preparation for the season. According to head coach Dave Durden, "On the women's side we raced very well. A lot of the detail work we have been doing this fall did not play out in terms of our racing but the girls did race well towards the last half of the day."
In reference to the men's performance, Durden commented "On the men's side we are just real tired right now. The detailed aspect of their racing needs to be sharpened over the next four to eight weeks before we get into the main part of our season."
Durden was more impressed with the second session of the time trial. "Overall, we swam better in the second session which is always a good sign in looking at our fitness level and where we are from a training perspective," said Durden. In order to improve moving into regular season meets, Durden feels that the team needs to learn how to warm up and warm down better and needs to focus more on the detailed aspect of their swimming.
