Maryland returns from the Big Apple to face the first of two Thanksgiving-week home games when it plays host to Delaware State. The Terrapins are also home on Friday evening to play Elon.

Despite a pair of losses that dropped the Terrapins to 3-2 overall, Maryland played well in the two games in the championship round of the 2K Sports Classic benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer. Maryland lost to 4th-ranked Pittsburgh, 79-70, but were within five points in the final minute. The next night, the Terrapins had a furious rally come just short in an 80-76 loss to No. 13 Illinois. Again, Maryland was within two possessions in the final stages of the game.

Sophomore center Jordan Williams was named to the All-Tournament team at Madison Square Garden. It ended a week which he began with being honored as the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week. Williams had his streak of double-doubles ended at five games against Pittsburgh, but he scored all 15 of his points and had 12 of his 13 rebounds against Illinois in the second half. Williams comes into tonight's game leading the Terrapins in scoring (18.4 points per game) and rebounding (12.4 boards per game).

Senior forward Dino Gregory had 10 points and 10 rebounds against the Illini, posting the first double-double of his career. Gregory also had his first double-figure scoring game of the season last Friday. Gregory is Maryland's second-leading rebounder (5.0 per game) and leads Maryland with a dozen blocks. He has at least one blocked shot in each of the Terps' first five games.

Freshman guard Terrell Stoglin had his best scoring night of the season against Illinois, as he led five Terrapins in double figures with 17 points. Stoglin, who is hitting 53 percent from the floor, is Maryland's third-leading scorer at 11.4 points per game. He also leads the Terrapins so far with nine steals.

Scouting the Hornets

Delaware State won its opening game of the season with a 63-56 triumph over Washington Adventist, the only game of the season thus far for the Hornets. They have had 10 days off before coming to Comcast Center to play the Terrapins.

Casey Walker scored 15 points, hitting 3 of 10 from 3-point range, to lead the victory, while Marques Oliver had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. The Hornets shot 26 3-pointers in the win and had 14 steals.

Delaware State was 17-12 overall and finished second in the MEAC with an 11-5 league mark last season. The Hornets return eight letterwinners, but just one starter from their 2009-10 squad. The returning starter, 5-foot-11 junior guard Jay Threatt, led all NCAA Division I players in steals at 2.8 per-game (82 total steals) last season. Threatt was also tops in the MEAC, and 38th in the nation, with a 2.32 assist-to-turnover per-game ratio during the 2009-10 campaign.

Sophomore forward Marques Oliver (6-foot-7) also returns to the team. Oliver led the Hornets in field goal percentage (.556) and blocks (26), while finishing fourth in scoring (5.7 ppg) as a true freshman last season.
